In September of this year, I resolved to draw from observation every day. This simple commitment of a daily practice has changed and challenged me to look at everything around me with renewed curiosity. Daily dog walks and trail runs in the forest yield pockets full of pine cones and seeds, the smallest insects have become a source of wonder, I have even become fascinated with the huge green, black and yellow slugs found on this beautiful Canadian West Coast. The following drawings from observation were done during the dark days of late Autumn, the fragile beauty of the tiny quail eggs placed in the hand made colourful ceramic bowls fed my longing for colour and optimism.

I wish you a very Happy New Year, may 2017 bring us courage, awareness, compassion and love.
